The detail

March is where the weather changes character: the rain stays low but the heat starts to climb. This page gives March’s row next to February and April from the month-by-month table, then the sea and wind, the 2027 Holy Week dates and what is reported about crowds.

Weather in March

There is no PAGASA station on Boracay4. Roxas City in Capiz is the nearest station on PAGASA’s normals list, at 11.60 N, 122.75 E, roughly 100 km east of the island and on a different coast49. The NASA POWER figures are a reanalysis model for the island’s coordinates (11.97 N, 121.92 E), not measurements5.

The mean maximum jumps 1.6 C from February to March in the model, and another 1.3 C by April. PAGASA’s national description covers the same turn: March starts the hot dry season, and it says conditions are especially uncomfortable from March to May, when temperature and humidity peak1. PAGASA’s national relative humidity is lowest in March, at 71%, a national average and not an island figure1.

The rain columns point in opposite directions. The Roxas City gauge rises from February through April, while the NASA model has its lowest value in March45. Both stay between 49 and 70 mm, so the useful statement is the range. PAGASA does not state the base period of its normals or label the units; the figures are read here as millimetres of rain per month4.

Kalibo, on the mainland, has sunset at 5:59 p.m. on 1 March 2027 and 6:01 p.m. on 30 March, and sunrise at about 6:06 a.m. on 1 March, per timeanddate10. Boracay is a little west of Kalibo, so use these as approximate.

Sea and wind

PAGASA declared the northeast monsoon, the Amihan, on 27 October 2025, expecting cool, dry air and also “rough sea conditions and shear lines”2. The southwest monsoon is the Habagat. The sources used here give no end date for Amihan.

The University of the Philippines modelling abstract (15 November 2024) finds that White Beach faces the southwesterly wind and Bulabog the northeasterly, so in northeast conditions the wind and wave setup is higher at Bulabog3. A February 2025 fee report ties an extra charge at Tabon port to the southwest-monsoon season, which is the Habagat and not the season of this page11. Which port is used in which season has the detail.

What is on

Holy Week 2027. Proclamation No. 1427 makes Maundy Thursday 25 March and Good Friday 26 March regular holidays and Black Saturday 27 March a special non-working day712. Holy Week dates move every year, so these are the 2027 dates only.

Boracay has applied a quiet-hours rule at Holy Week. In 2025, Memorandum Order No. 2025-33 stopped permits for parties and loud music from 6 a.m. on Good Friday to 6 a.m. on Black Saturday13. In 2023 the reported window began at 6 p.m. on Good Friday14. The 2027 rule is not published in the sources used here.

Crowds

For Holy Week, the arrivals reports are all from April, because Holy Week fell in April in those years. In 2022 arrivals were 21,252 on 14 April and 22,519 on 15 April, against a DOT recommended daily threshold of 19,21515; the figures are in Boracay in April. For March itself, the one report is a forecast: after counting 174,966 tourists in February 2025, the local government said it was braced for March and April 2025 to be the peak season8. No March count is in the sources used here.

What to book ahead

Holy Week 2027, 25 to 27 March, is the dated demand in this month. In April 2023, ahead of that year’s Holy Week, entry to the island was reported to require a booking at a DOT-accredited hotel and a valid ID14. Whether the same rule applies in 2027 is not stated anywhere used here, so check Boracay entry requirements closer to the date. The full list of dated peaks is in Boracay peak dates for 2026 and 2027.
