Boracay in July: Weather and Sea Conditions

In brief

July is the month where the two rainfall sources differ most in millimetres: 253.4 mm at the PAGASA Roxas City gauge, 461 mm in the model for Boracay’s own coordinates, the highest of the year in the model. Both put it in PAGASA’s rainy season, with a modelled mean daily high of 30.8 C and sea-surface temperature near 30.0 C.

  • Rain: 253.4 mm is the PAGASA normal for Roxas City, the nearest listed gauge; 461 mm is modelled for the island, about 1.8 times as much12.
  • Temperature (modelled for the island): mean 27.9 C, high 30.8 C, low 25.6 C, relative humidity 84%2.
  • Sea surface: about 30.0 C as a model mean, with hourly values from 29.1 to 31.1 C3.
  • Wind: the Habagat (southwest monsoon) reaches White Beach directly, which takes higher wind and wave setup than Bulabog, per a University of the Philippines study5.
  • Daylight: sunset at Kalibo is 6:18 p.m. on 1 and 15 July 2027 and 6:16 p.m. on 30 July6.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is July the wettest month in Boracay?

In the NASA POWER model for the island, yes: 461 mm, the highest of the year2. At the PAGASA Roxas City gauge July is 253.4 mm, below June’s 259.0 mm and October’s 304.9 mm1.

Why do the two rainfall figures differ so much?

One is a gauge on a different coast of Panay; the other is a model for a grid cell at the island’s coordinates12. They agree that the rainy season runs from about June to October.

How hot is Boracay in July?

In the model for the island, the mean daily high is 30.8 C, the mean low 25.6 C and the mean 27.9 C2.

How warm is the sea in July?

The model mean is about 30.0 C, with hourly values from 29.1 to 31.1 C3. These are model outputs, not buoy readings.

Is the Habagat blowing in July?

PAGASA counts June to November as the rainy season4, and the 2025 Habagat start was reported as 30 May7. The Philippine Ports Authority still listed Habagat cancellations on 10 August 202613; see Boracay in August.

Is there a festival in Boracay in July?

None is dated in the sources used here.

The detail

This page covers July on Boracay: the climate figures and why two rainfall numbers appear, what the southwest monsoon does to each coast, whether anything is scheduled, and what the arrivals reports say about crowds. It is part of When to Go to Boracay; June and August appear only for comparison, and each has its own page: Boracay in June and Boracay in August.

Weather in July

No PAGASA station exists on Boracay. The rainfall in the first column is the PAGASA climatological normal for Roxas City, Capiz, the nearest listed station, on a different coast of Panay1. The second column is NASA POWER’s 2001-2020 climatology, a reanalysis model evaluated at the island’s coordinates and multiplied from a daily rate to a monthly total2. Temperatures come from the same model. Sea-surface values are monthly means of hourly Open-Meteo model values for 2015-20243.

Month Rain, Roxas City gauge (mm) Rain, modelled for Boracay (mm) Mean daily high / low (C), modelled Sea surface (C), modelled mean
June 259.0 371 32.4 / 26.0 30.4
July 253.4 461 30.8 / 25.6 30.0
August 202.1 388 30.2 / 25.4 29.7

Sources disagree The gauge puts July slightly below June (253.4 against 259.0 mm); the model puts it well above (461 against 371 mm) and as the wettest month of the year12. The model figure is about 1.8 times the gauge figure, the widest gap of any month in millimetres. Roxas City is across Panay and the model is a smoothed grid-cell estimate, so neither is a measurement on the island. Plan around the range of 253 to 461 mm, and expect July to be wet on either reading.

The mean daily high of 30.8 C is 1.6 C below June’s in the model, and relative humidity rises to 84% from 82%2. PAGASA places June to November in the rainy season4. The PAGASA normals page describes the values as 30-year averages but does not name the years or label the rainfall unit; the figures behave as millimetres of monthly rainfall1.

Daylight

timeanddate lists sunset at Kalibo at 6:18 p.m. on 1 July 2027 and on 15 July, and 6:16 p.m. on 30 July6. Kalibo is a little east of Boracay, so sunset on the island falls slightly later.

Sea and wind

Boracay has two monsoons. Amihan is the northeast monsoon; Habagat is the southwest monsoon, which GMA News reported as starting on 30 May in 20257. A University of the Philippines study models the island as oriented northwest to southeast. White Beach faces the southwesterly winds directly and Bulabog the northeasterly ones, so under southwest conditions the study finds higher wind and wave setup at White Beach and lower at Bulabog. It also finds sediment concentrations slightly higher in the southwest monsoon than in the northeast5.

Boats between Caticlan and Boracay have been limited at Public Storm Warning Signal No. 110 and stopped at Signal No. 289 in the cases found. Those storms fell in November and December; the sources used here do not date a July storm on the island. How signals stop the crossing is on typhoons and cancelled boats, and the sources behind this page do not give a port for July: see the ports page.

What is on

The sources used for this page date no festival or programme on Boracay in July, so none is listed. Dated peaks elsewhere in the year are on Boracay peak dates.

Crowds

No arrivals report in the sources gives a July figure. The Malay tourism office recorded 1,759,592 tourists in 2022, about 146,600 a month by simple division, and January 2023 was the busiest month in that year’s first half at 177,86011. February 2025 totalled 174,966, and the local government expected March and April to be the peak12. A July count is not in these reports, so this page does not call the month busy or quiet.

What to book ahead

Leave a spare day before any onward flight from Caticlan. Passengers have been stranded when sea trips were suspended, in the cases on the typhoons page, and the Coast Guard decides on the day. Entry steps at the jetty port are in Boracay entry requirements.
