In brief
August is in the middle of PAGASA’s rainy season, with 202.1 mm of rain at the Roxas City gauge and 388 mm in the model for Boracay, and the highest modelled humidity of the year at 85%. The Habagat (southwest monsoon) was still active on 10 August 2026, when the Philippine Ports Authority listed cancelled sea trips attributed to it.
- Rain: 202.1 mm is the PAGASA normal for Roxas City, the nearest listed gauge; 388 mm is modelled for the island’s coordinates12.
- Temperature (modelled for the island): mean 27.8 C, high 30.2 C, low 25.4 C, relative humidity 85%2.
- Sea surface: about 29.7 C as a model mean, with hourly values from 29.1 to 31.2 C3.
- Sea trips: a Bulalacao to Caticlan sailing was among those cancelled on 10 August 2026 because of the Habagat5.
- Wind: White Beach faces the southwest monsoon directly and takes higher wind and wave setup than Bulabog6.

PAGASA counts August in the rainy season4. Rainfall is 202.1 mm at the Roxas City gauge and 388 mm in the model for the island12.
Does the Habagat cancel boats in August?
On 10 August 2026 the Philippine Ports Authority listed cancelled sea trips attributed to the Habagat, including a Bulalacao to Caticlan sailing5. That is a different route from the crossing to the island, which the sources used here do not report for that day.
How hot is Boracay in August?
In the model for the island, the mean daily high is 30.2 C, the mean low 25.4 C and the mean 27.8 C2.
How warm is the sea in August?
The model mean is about 29.7 C, with hourly values from 29.1 to 31.2 C3. These are model outputs, not buoy readings.
Is August humid?
The model puts relative humidity at 85%, the joint highest of the year with December2.
Which beach is rougher in the Habagat?
In the University of the Philippines modelling, White Beach takes higher wind and wave setup than Bulabog under southwest conditions6.

The detail
This page covers August on Boracay: the climate figures, what the southwest monsoon does to the sea and the boats, whether anything is scheduled, and what the arrivals reports say about crowds. It belongs to the When to Go to Boracay guide. July and September appear only for comparison; each has its own page: Boracay in July and Boracay in September.
Weather in August
Boracay has no PAGASA station. The first rainfall column is the PAGASA climatological normal for Roxas City, Capiz, the nearest listed station, on a different coast of Panay1. The second is NASA POWER’s 2001-2020 climatology, a reanalysis model evaluated at the island’s coordinates and multiplied from a daily rate to a monthly total2. Temperatures and humidity are from that model. Sea-surface values are monthly means of hourly Open-Meteo model values for 2015-20243.
| Month | Rain, Roxas City gauge (mm) | Rain, modelled for Boracay (mm) | Mean daily high / low (C), modelled | Sea surface (C), modelled mean |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| July | 253.4 | 461 | 30.8 / 25.6 | 30.0 |
| August | 202.1 | 388 | 30.2 / 25.4 | 29.7 |
| September | 213.5 | 382 | 30.8 / 25.4 | 29.5 |

Sources disagree At the Roxas City gauge, August at 202.1 mm is the driest of the June to October months. In the model it is the second wettest of them, at 388 mm, behind July12. The model figure is about 1.9 times the gauge figure. Roxas City is across Panay and the model is a smoothed grid-cell estimate, so neither is a measurement on the island. Plan for a wet month on either reading.
The model’s relative humidity is 85% in August, against 84% in July and September, and the same figure appears only in December2. PAGASA places June to November in the rainy season4. The PAGASA normals page describes the values as 30-year averages but does not name the years or label the rainfall unit; the figures behave as millimetres of monthly rainfall1.
Sea and wind
Boracay has two monsoons. Amihan is the northeast monsoon; Habagat is the southwest monsoon. GMA News reported the 2025 Habagat start as 30 May7. The Philippine Ports Authority listed cancelled sea trips “due to inclement weather caused by the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat)” as of 8 a.m. on 10 August 2026, including a Bulalacao to Caticlan sailing5. That is a different route from the short crossing to the island, and the sources used here do not report the Caticlan to Boracay crossing for that day. The same report says that when the Philippine Coast Guard issues a no-sail policy, trips are cancelled automatically because ships are not allowed to sail5.
A University of the Philippines study models the island as oriented northwest to southeast. White Beach faces the southwesterly winds directly and Bulabog the northeasterly ones, so under southwest conditions the study finds higher wind and wave setup at White Beach and lower at Bulabog6.
Boats between Caticlan and Boracay have been limited at Public Storm Warning Signal No. 110 and stopped at Signal No. 289 in the cases found. The signals and precedents are on typhoons and cancelled boats. The sources behind this page do not give a port for August: see the ports page.
What is on
The sources used for this page date no festival or programme on Boracay in August, so none is listed. Dated peaks elsewhere in the year are on Boracay peak dates.
Crowds
No arrivals report in the sources gives an August figure. Annual totals are the nearest scale: 1,759,592 tourists in 2022, according to the Malay tourism office11, and over 1.8 million visitors in 2025 by 23 December, per GMA12. The first works out, by simple division, to about 146,600 a month. This page does not call August busy or quiet.
What to book ahead
Leave a spare day before any flight home from Caticlan, since cancelled sailings were listed in this season5. The Coast Guard decides on the day. Entry steps at the jetty port are in Boracay entry requirements.
