Boracay in June: Weather and Sea Conditions

In brief

June is the first month of PAGASA’s rainy season, with 259.0 mm of rain at the Roxas City gauge and 371 mm in the model for Boracay, up from 144.7 and 225 mm in May. Temperatures barely change from May: a modelled mean daily high of 32.4 C and a low of 26.0 C, the warmest nights of the year in the model.

  • Rain: 259.0 mm is the PAGASA normal for Roxas City, the nearest listed gauge; 371 mm is modelled for the island’s coordinates12.
  • Temperature (modelled for the island): mean 28.4 C, high 32.4 C, low 26.0 C, relative humidity 82%2.
  • Sea surface: about 30.4 C as a model mean, with hourly values from 29.3 to 31.7 C3.
  • Wind: the Habagat (southwest monsoon) was reported to have started on 30 May in 2025, and White Beach faces it directly56.
  • Daylight: sunrise at Kalibo is 5:25 a.m. on 1 June 2027 and sunset 6:11 p.m., moving to 6:18 p.m. by 30 June7.

The detail

This page covers June on Boracay: the climate figures, which coast the southwest monsoon hits, whether anything is scheduled and what the arrivals reports say about crowds. It belongs to the When to Go to Boracay guide. Neighbouring months appear only for comparison; see Boracay in May and Boracay in July.

Weather in June

Boracay has no PAGASA station, so two sources are used and they measure different things. The rainfall in the first column is the PAGASA climatological normal for Roxas City, Capiz, the nearest listed station, on a different coast of Panay1. The second is NASA POWER’s 2001-2020 climatology, a reanalysis model evaluated at the island’s coordinates and multiplied from a daily rate to a monthly total2. Temperatures are from that model too, and sea-surface values are monthly means of hourly Open-Meteo model values for 2015-20243.

Month Rain, Roxas City gauge (mm) Rain, modelled for Boracay (mm) Mean daily high / low (C), modelled Sea surface (C), modelled mean
May 144.7 225 32.6 / 25.4 30.3
June 259.0 371 32.4 / 26.0 30.4
July 253.4 461 30.8 / 25.6 30.0

The mean daily high falls by 1.6 C from June to July in the model, and the mean low of 26.0 C in June is the highest of any month2. PAGASA places June to November in the rainy season and December to May in the dry season4. The PAGASA normals page describes the values as 30-year averages but does not name the years or label the rainfall unit; the figures behave as millimetres of monthly rainfall1.

Sources disagree For June, the model puts rainfall at Boracay at 371 mm and the Roxas City gauge at 259.0 mm, about 1.4 times as much12. The gap widens to nearly a factor of two in July: see Boracay in July. Roxas City is across Panay and the model is a grid-cell estimate, so use both to judge the season, not a particular week.

Daylight

timeanddate lists sunrise at Kalibo at 5:25 a.m. on 1 June 2027, with sunset at 6:11 p.m. on 1 June and 6:18 p.m. on 30 June7. Kalibo is a little east of Boracay, so sunset on the island falls slightly later.

Sea and wind

Boracay has two monsoons. Amihan is the northeast monsoon; Habagat is the southwest monsoon. GMA News gave 30 May as the start of the 2025 Habagat5, so June was the first full month of it that year. A University of the Philippines study models the island as oriented northwest to southeast, with White Beach facing the southwesterly winds directly and Bulabog facing the northeasterly ones. Under southwest conditions it finds higher wind and wave setup at White Beach and lower at Bulabog6.

Boats between Caticlan and Boracay have been limited at Public Storm Warning Signal No. 111 and stopped at Signal No. 2910 in the cases found; those storms fell in November and December. The rules and precedents are on typhoons and cancelled boats. The sources behind this page do not give which port is used in June; see the ports page.

What is on

The sources used for this page date no festival or programme on Boracay in June, so none is listed. For dated peaks elsewhere in the year see Boracay peak dates.

Crowds

No arrivals report in the sources gives a June figure. The Malay tourism office recorded 1,040,847 tourists from 1 January to 15 June 2023, with January the busiest month at 177,8608. The office’s 2022 total of 1,759,592 works out, by simple division, to about 146,600 a month8. Neither number says whether June is busy or quiet, and this page does not claim it.

What to book ahead

Allow a spare day after the last commitment on your trip, such as a flight home from Caticlan. Passengers have been stranded when sea trips were suspended, in the cases on the typhoons page, and the Coast Guard decides on the day. Entry steps at the jetty port are in Boracay entry requirements.
