Boracay in October: Weather, Sea Conditions and What Is On

In brief

October is the wettest month in PAGASA’s Roxas City normals, 304.9 mm, against 341 mm modelled for the island itself. It is also the month the Habagat (southwest monsoon) ends and the Amihan (northeast monsoon) begins: PAGASA said on 7 October 2025 that the Habagat had been weakening for weeks, and declared the Amihan on 27 October 2025.

  • Rain: 304.9 mm at the Roxas City gauge, about 100 km east of the island; 341 mm in the NASA POWER model for Boracay’s coordinates12.
  • Air: modelled mean 27.8 C, mean maximum 30.2 C, mean minimum 25.5 C, relative humidity 83 percent2.
  • Sea: modelled surface temperature averages 29.8 C3.
  • Wind: PAGASA declared the Amihan on 27 October 2025, so late October can bring either monsoon’s pattern6.
  • Storms: the greatest daily rainfall at Roxas City in recent years, 241.0 mm, fell on 28 October 20227.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is October a good month to visit Boracay?

The sources used here do not rate months. October is the wettest month at the Roxas City gauge (304.9 mm) and the month the monsoon changes146. Compare it with the other months in the month-by-month table.

Has the Habagat ended by October?

In 2025 PAGASA said on 7 October that the Habagat had been weakening for weeks, and declared the Amihan on 27 October46.

How much rain does Boracay get in October?

304.9 mm at PAGASA’s Roxas City gauge and 341 mm in the NASA POWER model for the island12. The two differ because one is a gauge on another coast and the other is a model.

How warm is the sea in October?

The Open-Meteo marine model averages 29.8 C, with hourly values from 28.9 to 30.7 C3. That is a model, not a measured series.

Do boats to Boracay stop for storms in October?

Storm signals stop or limit the Caticlan crossing, and the Coast Guard decides on the day. Boats were suspended under Signal No. 2 in November 2016 and December 20191415. See typhoons and cancelled boats.

Is Boracay crowded in October?

No arrivals report for October is cited here, so the question cannot be answered from these sources1213.

The detail

This page covers one month of the Boracay calendar: the weather figures for October with their sources, what the monsoon change does to each coast, and what is dated in the month. Boats between Caticlan and the island can be stopped by storm signals at any time in the wet season, which is covered in typhoons and cancelled boats.

Weather in October

There is no PAGASA station on Boracay. The figures below come from two different kinds of source, and the table keeps them apart.

Month Rain, Roxas City gauge (PAGASA normal, mm) Rain, modelled for Boracay (NASA POWER, mm) Mean temp (C) Mean max (C) Mean min (C) Humidity (%) Sea surface (C, model)

The Roxas City column is a gauge. Roxas City, in Capiz, is the nearest station in PAGASA’s climatological normals, roughly 100 km east of Boracay across northern Panay, and on a different coast17. PAGASA’s page describes the values as 30-year averages but does not name the years or label the unit; they behave as millimetres per month1. The other columns are modelled. NASA POWER’s rainfall, temperature and humidity are a 2001-2020 reanalysis climatology for the island’s coordinates, with rainfall converted from millimetres per day to a monthly total2. The sea figure is a 2015-2024 mean of Open-Meteo’s marine model, whose hourly values in October range from 28.9 to 30.7 C3. None of the model values is a measurement taken at Boracay.

October is the wettest month of the Roxas City column. In the model, July is the peak (461 mm) and October is lower than September2. PAGASA’s national calendar puts October inside the rainy season, which it dates from June to November8.

Sea and wind

The Habagat is the southwest monsoon. PAGASA’s 2025 season began on 30 May, and on 7 October 2025 it said the Habagat had been weakening for weeks and the country was moving toward the Amihan, the northeast monsoon4. GMA also reported, on 7 October 2024, that PAGASA had declared that year’s Habagat season officially ended5. PAGASA then declared the Amihan on 27 October 2025, describing a season of cool, dry air in most of the country, with rough sea conditions and shear lines also expected6.

The island runs northwest to southeast, so each monsoon hits one coast first. A University of the Philippines modelling study found higher wind and wave setup at White Beach under southwest conditions and lower at Bulabog, and the reverse under northeast ones9. October is the changeover, so which coast is rougher on a given day depends on which wind is blowing.

Which jetty the boats use also follows the monsoon. A February 2025 report ties an extra Tabon port charge to the southwest-monsoon season10; the switch is explained in Cagban, Tambisaan and Tabon: which port in which season.

What is on

No festival or organized event dated to October appears in the sources behind this site, and the national list of 2026 holidays has no holiday in October11. The calendar for the months around it is in the November and December pages.

Crowds

No monthly arrivals report for October is among the sources used here, so this page makes no claim about how busy the island is. The reports available mark January 2023 as the busiest month of that year’s first half (177,860 visitors) and February 2025 at 174,966, with the local government expecting March and April 2025 to be the peak1213.

What to book ahead

Wet-season sailings can be cancelled on the day. Allow a spare day before any onward flight, which is the practical rule for departures from June to October and from November to January. Where a room can be changed or cancelled without a fee, that option is worth more in October than the same room at a lower price.
