The detail
This is a short page on purpose. It compares the two things the available sources can support: how many visitors each destination reports and how you arrive. For Boracay’s own seasons see When to Go to Boracay.
The short answer
| If you are… | Then… |
|---|---|
| Comparing scale | Bali’s 6,948,754 direct foreign arrivals are about 18 times Boracay’s foreign visitors (389,935, the total less the domestic count) and about 3 times its 2,155,217 visitors of all kinds, by simple division12. Treat the ratio as indicative only. |
| Comparing foreign-visitor mix | Bali’s top five sources were Australia, India, China, South Korea and the United Kingdom1. The sources used here give no nationality breakdown for Boracay’s 2025 count. |
| Comparing how to arrive | Bali’s figure counts arrivals by airport and seaport1. Boracay needs an airport (Caticlan or Kalibo), then a seaport and a boat3. |
Visitor numbers
| Figure | Period | Source | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bali | 6,948,754 direct foreign tourist arrivals, +9.72% on 2024 | January to December 2025 | Bali provincial statistics office (BPS), reported by Antara, 3 February 20261 |
| Boracay | 2,155,217 visitors, 1,765,282 of them domestic (the remaining 389,935 are foreign, by subtraction) | 2025 | Malay Tourism Office, reported by Manila Standard on 5 January 20262 |
Bali’s top source markets in 2025 were Australia (1.63 million, 23.44 percent), India (about 569,260), China (about 537,380), South Korea (346,680) and the United Kingdom (317,520)1.
Good to know Bali’s count is of “direct foreign” arrivals only; Boracay’s includes domestic visitors, who are the large majority at 1,765,282 of 2,155,2172. The definition of “direct” is not spelled out in the report used here. Comparing Bali’s total with Boracay’s foreign remainder is the nearer match, but not an exact one.
How you get there
Boracay. Visitors land at Caticlan or Kalibo and go to the mainland seaport. The Boracay iPass site gives 5 to 10 minutes from Caticlan airport and 1 hour 20 to 1 hour 30 minutes from Kalibo, then 10 to 15 minutes by ferry or 3 to 5 minutes by speedboat to Cagban seaport on the island3. See Getting to Boracay.
Bali. The only access fact in the sources used here is that arrivals are counted at both airports and seaports, and that seaport arrivals rose to 41,169 visits in 2025, which Antara linked to cruise ship traffic and new flight routes1. No flight times or routes to Bali are given.
What this page leaves out
- Island size. No official area figure for both islands was available from a statistics source, so no size comparison is made.
- Bali’s season. No official Bali rainfall record is cited here, so there is no month-by-month comparison. Boracay’s rainfall record is on When to Go to Boracay; for Bali, consult Indonesia’s meteorological agency, BMKG.
What each is known for
A peer-reviewed study describes Boracay as a top tourist island known for its 4-km beach4. The sources used here contain no comparable statement about Bali.
